Sources said another soldier was injured along the LoC in Shahpur area of Poonch district. Two children Gulnaz Begum 15 and Yasir Arif 6 were also injured in Poonch district. According to sources the shelling on Sunday started in Shahpur area of Poonch district around 11.15 am spreading to Balakote sector in Mendhar and Manjakote in Rajouri district by 3.30 pm. An Army spokesperson said the Indian troops were retaliating strongly and effectively inflicting heavy damage on Pakistani posts . The martyrdom of Indian Army soldiers will not go in vain and the Pakistani Army will be given a befitting response the spokesperson said. Ceasefire violations are at an all-time high this year. According to sources there have been over 160 ceasefire violations along the LoC since the beginning of the year. There were 860 ceasefire violations along the LoC last year including 147 in December. There were 271 ceasefire violations in 2016 a climbdown from 387 violations in 2015. RELATED REPORT: Rajnath Singh: India will meet one Pakistani bullet with countless bullets The shelling on Sunday came days after BSF personnel foiled an infiltration bid in Samba district on Thursday night. Meanwhile all the 84 schools in the border areas from Subderbani to Manjakote in Rajouri district have been closed for the next three days. Expressing grief over the death of soldiers Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti conveyed her condolences to their families. In the past infiltration during the snow-bound winter months has remained low. Consequently there are fewer ceasefire violations which are used by the Pakistani Army to provide covering fire to infiltrating groups of militants. But this year the snowfall has been among the lowest ever. The Indian Army has also been proactive in targeting Pakistani Army posts which act as launching pads for militants. This has led to a sharp increase in the number of ceasefire violations and in the calibre of weapons used by both sides. Army Captain among four soldiers killed in Pakistan firing along LoC in J-K's Rajouri

NEW DELHI: In the absence of any diplomatic detente the deadly war of attrition between India and Pakistan along the 778-km Line of Control (LoC) and 198-km International Boundary (IB) in Jammu & Kashmir has taken a sharp turn for the worse ever since the surgical strikes of September 2016. There were as many as 860 ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the LoC and another 120 along the IB in 2017 the highest-ever such tally in over 15 years. The number of CFVs has already touched 241 across the LoC in the first 36 days of this year claiming the lives of nine Indian soldiers as per Army statistics. Army chief General Bipin Rawat says the Pak Army is suffering three to four times the number of casualties compared to us in the CFVs. Given the current mood these long and bloody tit-for-tat fire assaults across the border with even light artillery guns heavy mortars and anti-tank guided missiles often coming into play from both the sides are not going to ebb anytime soon. A day after a young captain and three soldiers were killed in heavy shelling by Pakistani forces in Rajouri district Army vice-chief Lt-General Sarath Chand on Monday warned of strong retaliatory action to avenge the losses https://growthhackers.com/members/kkdomino. That (retaliation) goes without saying. I think I don t have to say that. (Our) action will speak for itself he said. Added another senior officer Pakistan is hurt more than us...that s why the Pak Army refuses to give its casualty figures to its own Parliament. We estimate 130-140 Pak soldiers were killed in our cross-border firings and tactical operations last year. But Indian soldiers have also paid a heavy price. Of the 62 who laid down their lives in J&K last year 15 were killed in CFVs 17 in infiltration and other incidents along the LoC and 30 in counter-terrorism operations in the hinterland. I don t think the situation will get better in the short term. The atmosphere has been completely vitiated by the Pak Army strategy to send terrorists across to carry out IED blasts mutilate our soldiers and attack garrisons. It leaves no space for any confidence-building like a ceasefire agreement said former Northern Army Command chief Lt-Gen D S Hooda (retd) who oversaw the surgical strikes on September 29 2016. Indian Para-Special Forces had conducted the surgical strikes against terror launch pads close to Pak Army posts in four different locations in PoK to avenge the killing of 19 Indian soldiers in a suicide attack at the Army camp in Uri earlier that month. That in effect triggered the sharp escalatory spiral with Pakistan indulging in 78 and 88 CFVs in October and November 2016. India also began to pro-actively dominate the LoC with pre-emptive and punitive fire assaults on Pak Army posts aiding infiltration which became all the more fiercer after two of its soldiers were beheaded in a BAT (border action team) operation in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch on May 1 last year. The Pak Army was obviously not about to roll over and play dead. It responded in full measure sometimes deliberately targeting civilian centres in the Jammu region. JAMMU: Pakistani troops opened fire and lobbed mortars at Indian positions along the International border and LoC in three sectors of Jammu and Rajouri districts overnight a BSF officer said today. Yesterday a civilian was killed and two persons were injured in the Pakistani shelling along the IB in Kanachak belt of Jammu district raising the death toll in the ceasefire violations since Thursday last to 12 and injuries to over 60. Schools continue to remain closed along the LoC and IB in Jammu region. There was night-long firing along the IB in Pargwal Math R S Pura Arnia and Ramgarh sectors (of Jammu and Samba districts). It stopped at 0545 hours today the officer said. Pakistan Rangers resumed shelling along the IB in Kanachak sector of Jammu last night he said. Pakistan troops also resumed heavy shelling along the LoC in Bhawani Karali Said Numb and Sher Makri areas of Rajouri district last evening officials said. Seven civilians three Armymen and two BSF personnel have so far been killed in the ceasefire violations. While a BSF jawan and a teenage girl were killed on Thursday four persons including two civilians and one BSF jawan and an Army jawan were killed and over 40 others injured in the Pakistani firing on Friday. Three civilians and an Army jawan were killed and 16 others injured in the ceasefire violations on Saturday. BSF officials said authorities were keeping a close eye on the situation and have rushed police teams to affected areas to ensure prompt assistance to the people. People have been asked to stay indoors and not to touch any suspicious object in their area as it could be an unexploded mortar shell he said. Firing from across the border started on Thursday last and has forced 40 000 people to flee their homes and take shelter in rehabilitation camps or with their relatives. The BJP had promised five marlas (1361.25 sq ft) of land for border villagers during the election campaigning in the state ahead of forming a government with the PDP in 2015. However last year the government informed the state legislative assembly that it had decided to construct bunkers in border districts instead of allotting five marlas of land to each family as shifting of population to another place would not be in the interest of the state or nation. What we are getting is only hollow promises and unabated firing from Pakistan over the last four years. The government needs to act and provide us the promised five marlas of land away from the firing zone for our safety Sudesh Kumari a resident of Beghwara Choga told PTI. Kumari is among 150 border residents camping at the Indian Training Institute (ITI) complex in this sector after one of her relatives lost his life in the Pakistani shelling along the International Border in Bhera village on Saturday. Hamara Jeena Haraam Ho Gaya hai (Our life has become a hell) she said as nearly three dozen women gathered to condole the demise of her brother-in-law Ghar Singh in the Pakistani shelling second the view. Singh was among six persons killed in R S Pura and Arnia sectors while 32 others were injured. The dead included a BSF jawan. Suneeta said We are living a life of uncertainty with no future. During firing we are even unable to help our children to move to safety she said adding the lurking threat of Pakistani shelling is taking a toll on our mental health. Making a passionate appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi 75-year-old Krishna Devi from Abdullian said With folded hands we want to say that we are not even safe in our homes as shells pierce the roof and walls and we should be helped on humanitarian grounds. Her grandson Pankaj Kumar said they are afraid to go back to their homes. The firing was intense (over the past week) and we fear it might continue till Republic Day he said. Kumari said they had a narrow escape while fleeing the village as a mortar shell missed them and landed on a tree. Had the shell not landed on the tree it would have hit the vehicle we were travelling in from the village to the rehabilitation camp she said. Kanta Devi a resident of Kapurpur and putting up at government boys higher secondary school said The truth is bitter - the government is not doing enough for our safety and security while the firing from across the border had increased manifold over the years . What we are going through we pray nobody else should face such a situation she said. Kastoori Lal said many VVIPs including deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh and Relief and Rehabilitation minister Javaid Mustafa Mir visited the camp since Saturday and extended condolences to families who lost their dear ones in the Pakistani firing and assured all possible help. How long we will stay at the camps? We want government to fulfil our demand of allotment of land at safer places and early construction of bunkers he said. He said there is no alternative to peace. We want peaceful atmosphere to return by strictly implementing the 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two countries as innocent people are getting killed and displaced on the either side. Health Minister Bali Bhagat said India has taken many initiatives to normalise relations with Pakistan but the neighbouring country needs to understand the futility of violence and reciprocate positively. Not only the people of Jammu and Kashmir but the entire country wants good neighbourly relations between India and Pakistan he said. However he said it is unfortunate that the firing from across the border is going on killing innocent persons and resulting in displacement of the people. The government was doing its best to provide relief to border residents displaced by the Pakistani firing. We have already issued a high alert all along the 449 km stretch from Kathua to Poonch-Rajouri comprising both IB and LoC.We have deployed 197 ambulances and identified 25 health institutions which are very close to villages affected by the firing he said. He said despite tasting defeat at the hands of India many times Pakistan continues its mischief. I am of the opinion that the central government is going to take a strong measure in coming days...from former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee to Prime Minister Narendra Modi we extended the hand of friendship keeping in mind the doctrine that friends can be changed but not neighbours. When we are getting shells from Pakistan we are compelled to direct that if they fire one shell respond it by 10 shells he said. The minister said the world understands that India is a powerful country and its Army has the capability to cross the border and hit terrorist targets and return without the knowledge of their counterparts. NEW DELHI: The Army today killed seven Pakistani soldiers and injured four in areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in retaliation for the killing of an Indian solider in Pakistani firing on Saturday. Meanwhile the Pakistan army said in a statement that four of its soldiers were killed along the LOC in the Jandrot Kotli sector. Separately the Army today also killed six Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terrorists. We have recovered five bodies from the spot. I think six have died one body is being searched. They belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed and information was that they are suicide attackers said SP Vaid director general of police Jammu and Kashmir. Vaid laid out how the action unfolded. Since past few days we were getting inputs about possible attempts to infiltrate from Uri sector. So ambushes were laid out in that area by Army J&K police & CRPF. In the morning exchange of fire took place in one of the ambushes said Vaid. Separately addressing Army members at an event of the 70th Army Day Army Chief General Bipin Rawat warned Pakistan to not compel India to step up its military offensive. Pakistan Army has been continuously trying to help terrorists sneak into India along LoC in J&K. We are using our might to teach them a lesson. If we are forced then we may resort to other action by stepping up military offensive he said. The Army chief also talked about Pakistan s non-stop ceasefire violations. Ceasefire violations by Pakistan happen frequently to which we respond effectively. We will take even stronger steps against our enemies if we are compelled to do so said General Rawat. Any anti-India activities will not be allowed to succeed he added. Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the International Border (IB) and the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir more than 720 times last year the highest in the past seven years. According to data compiled by the Union Home Ministry Pakistani forces have violated ceasefire 724 times along the IB and the LoC till October in comparison to 449 times in 2016. As many as 12 civilians and 17 security personnel were killed in the firing from across the border until last October. Last week Rawat said Pakistan s nuclear bogey will be thoroughly exposed were there to be war with the western neighbour which often brandishes its short-range Nasr (Hatf-IX) nuclear missiles as a battlefield counter to India s Cold Start strategy of swift high-intensity conventional attacks into enemy territory. We will call their bluff. If given the task we will not say we cannot cross the border because they have nuclear weapons said Rawat. General Rawat also said that disputes along Line of Actual Control in the country s northern border with China are continuing with regular transgressions occurring. We are working to stop them said General Rawat. As for the Eastern front the Army chief said terrorism there has been limited. Indo-Pak border fire unlikely to ebb soon, says Gen Rawat

The number of CFVs has already https://shopozoind5.wixsite.com/mobikwik touched 241 across the LoC in the first 36 days of this year claiming the lives of nine Indian soldiers as per Army statistics. A day after a young captain and three soldiers were killed in heavy shelling by Pakistani forces in Rajouri district Army vice-chief Lt-General Sarath Chand on Monday warned of strong retaliatory action to avenge the losses.
The Army today clearly indicated it would take retaliatory action against the killing of four army men in heavy shelling by Pakistani forces along the LoC in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir saying that its action would speak for itself. Vice chief Lt Gen Sarath Chand said the Army has been responding appropriately to Pakistan shelling asserting that India will continue to give a befitting reply to such acts. That (retaliation) goes without saying I think I don t have to say that. (Our) action will speak for itself he said when asked about the killing of a Captain and three other Army men in the Rajouri sector. The Captain and three jawans were killed and at least four people injured yesterday in the heavy Pakistani shelling along the LoC. Chand also accused the Pakistani Army of supporting the infiltration of terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir. We will continue with our process of giving a befitting reply (to such acts) he told reporters on the sidelines of an event here adding that there were even incidents of mutilation of bodies of jawans last year. We have been responding appropriately he said. There has been cross-border shelling from their (Pakistan s) side. And one of the shells landed near the officer and his men leading to the casualties he said when asked about yesterday s shelling. Hanan Bukhari who is a reporter for City 41 went live on TV and gave out details about his wedding that was taking place at that very moment. While reporting his own wedding Bukhari is seen wearing a groom s attire holding a mic and asking his family members about the occasion. He starts off by informing the viewers that he is present at his wedding ceremony and is very happy about it. (Thankfully!) Moreover he further states that since it is a love marriage his wife too is happy about it. He then introduces his father who is standing behind him and interviews him asking about the marriage and how he is feeling about the same. Being absolutely professional the camera then shift focus to Bukhari s mother-in-law and mother where they too express how they feel about the celebration. However these multiple clips that have gone viral on the Internet are being criticised by many. Check out the clips here: hilarious!!
